New Year – Capricorn Energy – New Beginnings

The new year, 2023 is the year of the water rabbit. The energy is strong in Capricorn. New beginnings, grounded energy and what actions we must take in order to be clear on what we intend.

Sometimes we might have to go backwards in order to go forward. Reflection is key to self awareness and self actualization. So what do we want? What intentions do we want to set for this new cycle?

Capricorn Energy

Check where Capricorn is in your chart. What house is Capricorn in, and possibly what planets. This is the place where new beginnings will be strongest.

New Year

Mercury is also in retrograde. Which will have us revisiting our foundations and getting things going. A feeling of motivation and excitement will be felt.

The first quarter moon is where we would like to change, grow or expand. Allow yourself to dream and imagine what it might be like to make a change, even if it doesn’t seem positive right now.

Chinese New Year

This is the new year of the water rabbit! A fortuitous year. According to Chinese astrology, this Chinese New Year starts on 22 January 2023 and ends on 9 February 2024. The year 2023 is symbolized by longevity, peace, prosperity, benevolence and fertility.

Spend time reflecting on where and how you desire for these themes to show up in your life. Set your intentions, and list actions you will take to achieve those desires.

Happy New Year to you all.

Birth Chart Astrology Painting

I have been painting birth chart’s for people for the past two years and it has been such an honor and privilege! When people connect with their painting so deeply, it is such a beautiful feeling. Knowing that my art allows others to connect with who they are at a deep level, is the greatest reward.

Here are the paintings I have created so far!

The Process

So to being the process I use the birth date, time and place of the individual to generate an astrology reading of their time of birth. This is known as the birth chart or natal chart.

Then I read the aspects of the chart which includes the planets, houses, and constellations. Generating an over all view of the energy of the person. From here I begin the intuitive painting process.

Painting

Intuitive painting is a process in which I get into a mindful state of being, and allow the paint and tools to lay the ground work for the energy I am focusing on. When I read a persons energy through astrology I often receive visuals that I incorporate into the work. The constellations and the symbols of the zodiac signs are also included into the work.

Birth Chart paintings are $250.
*they will increase to $300 in 2023.

Summer Solstice 2021

This years Summer Solstice was a powerful one, being that we are coming out of such transforming energy… into a new way of living.

Summer Solstice Ceremony

We began the weekend with a clearing ceremony, potluck and bonfire drum circle! In the ceremony we spent time with the altar, setting our intentions for what we wanted to draw in to our lives for the remainder of the year.

We also acknowledged and let go of that which no longer served our divine self. Jumping the fire is an old tradition for celebrating the fire of the sun!

Sunday morning started with a cacao ceremony lead by Josh Maurer. The ceremony really opened my heart which prepared me to receive beautiful energy from the sound meditation he took us on. Josh’s passion for ceremony and sound are evident in his reverence and grace.

After sound, we ate brunch and went into discussion about the use of art as a tool which manifests that which you desire; which generates energy into a state you wish to embody. We each worked on creating sigils that embodied the energy of that which we desire.

The weekend was a perfect celebration of life!

Blue View Farm

I wanted to give a special shout out to Jen at Blue View Farm, who donated beautiful arrangements for our amazing celebration. Her flowers were the perfect touch to our summer energy.

Blue View Farm offers monthly bouquet memberships, $10 daily bouquets, arrangements for special events and more!

Migwetch to everyone who attended, I am grateful for your presence.

Dagwaagiin Equinox

Today is the Autumn Equinox. The point where the sun is directly aligned with the equator of the earth, making night and day of approximately equal length all over the earth. Dagwaagiin means Autumn in Annishinabe.

This equinox feels extra important. It feels like a tipping point… hurling us into a new future. Leaving behind all that no longer serves us… on such a micro and macro level.

The middle way, the space in between… finding balance.

The seven gifts of the grandfathers help us to find balance in this world, as we journey through life.

Wisdom, Love, Respect, Bravery, Honesty, Humility, and Truth.

To cherish knowledge is to know Wisdom.

To know Love is to know peace.

To honor all of the Creation is to have Respect.

Bravery is to face the foe with integrity.

Honesty in facing a situation is to be brave.

Humility is to know yourself as a sacred part of the Creation.

Truth is to know all of these things.

Take a moment today to show gratitude for all that life has given you… For every moment is a gift. Cherish knowledge, love, honor all creations, have integrity, be brave, know you are sacred, and you will know truth. <3

Real Estate – Power Spot

For the last few years, I have been on a journey towards being a Realtor.

I completed my coursework, and passed the National and State tests, after much studying and a couple attempts.  The Maryland State test was a lot more difficult than the National test. There was a lot of information, and it was worded in the strangest ways… but the more you practice the better you get!

Recently I completed my 15 continuing education credits and am currently awaiting board membership for the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®, as well as membership to the local board, Greater Baltimore Board of REALTORS®.

This process has taken my a while to manifest, being that I am a full time teacher, artist and mother! I see value in it, and want to use my skills and talents to be of service to others.  Thinking of helping someone find their “power spot” is what this is about for me.

In Carlos Castaneda’s book “The Teachings of Don Juan”, Don Juan gives Carlos the task of searching for his “power spot”. This is a spot which rejuvenates our energy and allows us to tap into our divine power.

Purchasing a home can be an activity that causes us much discomfort, especially our first time.

What if we were to look at this purchase from a spiritual point of view, and not only from a third dimensional perspective.  Yes, it is important to pay attention to the structure of the house, the location of the house, the physical qualities we are looking for…. but it is also just as important to feel out how spaces affect our energy.

Look at purchasing a house from a holistic perspective, and keep in mind how our sacred space feels.  Spending time visualizing how we want our power spot, or sacred space, to look and feel, will give us a sense of ease when deciding on and purchasing a home. It will allow us to be more in tune with our desires, so when the right spot comes along we will know with our hearts and our minds.

This is why I am excited to have the Realtor tool in my belt. To assist all, in all ways, towards alignment with our higher selves and balance in this 3D world.

Keep an eye out for more posts about this journey, it is an exciting one!

Find your center

Today I released a lot… I let go of old memories, and stories…I started rewriting my mental story.

Today I mourned and grieved… for situations I wish I had, and relationships I have never experienced.

Today was a heavy day. Energetically speaking. I felt it heavy in my chest, which made it hard to focus on any task. As soon as I arrived home I got a migraine.  I had already decided that I was going to do yoga this evening so I chose Yoga for Migraines.  It was exactly what I needed… and as I lay in shivasana massaging the base of my neck, an explosion tears occurred… emotions and memories… all based around fear.

As I continued to rub my neck, I was experiencing the memories emotionally and physically again…as if I was there in that moment.  Realizing that I was releasing old patterns.  The fear I felt in each memory told me I have been programmed to be scared. Scared of being hurt… physically, mentally and emotionally. Fear of being hurt… and causing someone else to react in a manner that would hurt me.

Being the reason for my own pain.

It was a lot…. I cried and replayed the memory and felt the experience and cried more… the crying was almost as automatic as my breath…it was as if my body was physically releasing the energy and old patterns.

After a few breaths in each memory, the fear subsided and I was no longer scared of that outcome because I knew that in this moment I Am that I Am.

Releasing the fear lead me to mourning the absence of an experience that the majority of people have in their lifetime… the opportunity to meet my mother’s parents, and to grow up with active grandparents. Which makes me wonder… is there a statistic on the number of people who grow up without one or both sets of grandparents?

To me this is important because it has to do with the knowledge of self, so to speak. Our energy is made up of our ancestors’ choices and experiences, and our children’s children will be made up of our choices and experiences. Knowing oneself is vital to growth and evolution. So being able to spend time with your grandparents and learn from them more about who you are, is very important.

So I mourned my mother’s parents. I mourned the absence of an authentic relationship with my fathers parents. I grieved for not being able to speak to them, and ask them questions about their lives and their parents lives. I grieved for never being able to hug them and feel their presence in the physical realm. I allowed myself to feel what I was feeling.

And then I felt their presence…. in the space my breath had created… and for the first time I realized what this season was truly about. What our ancestors acknowledged and celebrated…. when the energy of the world is aligned and the veil is thin… this is when we can communicate with our ancestors and this is when we can learn from them.

Of course this is the perfect timing for releasing. Aside from the fact that there are major astrological events happening… It is almost all hallows eve, Samhain, and Dia de la Muertos.  This is the perfect time for us to get in touch with who we are through our painful memories… to release the fears surrounding those experiences and fill ourselves with love and gratitude.

Who you are encompasses all of your relatives.

To connect with our ancestors and dig deeper into who we are, we can meditatively let go and release what we “know” of our ancestors experiences through mourning, grieving and celebrating the life experiences that lead them to be who they were… filling those memories in with golden light of peace, love, and gratitude.  Then celebrate them throughout the week by remembering their light… perhaps light candles for them.

Do what you feel in your heart you should do…as you have all the answers within.

Celebrating Benjamin Banneker

On September 8th, 2018 The Benjamin Banneker Historical Park and Museum
held an artist reception for their current show that I have artwork hanging in…

Benjamin Banneker — author, scientist, mathematician, farmer, astronomer, publisher and urban planner — was descended from enslaved Africans, an indentured English servant, and free men and women of color. His grandmother, Molly Welsh, was an English dairy maid who was falsely convicted of theft and indentured to a Maryland tobacco farmer. After working out her indenture, Welsh rented and farmed some land, eventually purchasing two African slaves whom she freed several years later.

Young Benjamin grew up in Baltimore County, one of two hundred free blacks among a population of four thousand slaves and thirteen thousand whites. He was taught to read by his grandmother Molly, and briefly attended a one-room interracial school taught by a Quaker. He showed an early interest in mathematics and mechanics, preferring books to play.

While still a young man (probably about age 20), he built a wooden clock that kept precise time. Banneker was encouraged in the study of astronomy by George Ellicott, a Quaker and amateur astronomer whose family owned nearby mills. As early as 1788, Banneker began to make astronomical calculations, and he accurately predicted a solar eclipse that occurred in 1789. In 1791, while working with Andrew Ellicott and others in surveying the land that would become Washington, D.C., Banneker made other astronomical observations. –Encyclopedia Britannica

It turns out Benjamin and I have a lot in common! Both totally interested in astronomy, science, writing… he and I also share a similar background of being of mixed cultures. His story is very inspirational. It shows perseverance through any situation to come out on top and make a better world for everyone.

The show will be up until December 29th, 2018.
Thank you Willa Banks for following your passion for curating this amazing exhibit!

The Story of Strength and Grace

He was a brave, analytical, strong man. His vision was rare. He saw many things, and assisted his tribe in knowing themselves better. His gifts illuminated each members path, which in turn enlightened the whole tribe.

She was a compassionate, balanced, teacher and nurturer. She shared her passion and created space that allowed others to share their passions.  Everyone felt safe and at peace with her, as if they were home. She had the gift of allowing others to feel free.

Together they were Balanced in Strength and Grace

One day, their world changed forever.
The partnership that was made in the stars, was torn apart by an outside force.
At least that’s how it seemed at that moment in time.

She was a crane, traveling out to surrounding areas… meeting with other leaders, and bringing back new knowledge. He was a bear, a warrior and protector of his people.

He went out to meet his spirit animal, to be initiated as Chief. A quest to find and communicate with a bear.  The bear willingly gave of himself as this was the bears time to go back to the spirit world.  Animals would offer themselves up as a sacrifice for the flow of the universal energy. He conquered his fears, receiving his spirit animal using only his left hand. Realizing he had the ability to do as he willed, he didn’t need for anything outside of himself.  The beauty in this realization is that he finally recognized the value of things outside of himself, and how they are vital to the realization of self.

She went out to meet a neighboring tribe to discuss new findings.  The other tribe brought to her attention a new group of people who are lighter skinned with new machines, tools and weapons.  She heard of how they came in peace, and how they wished to develop partnerships with her people. They brought gifts to show their intentions… many blankets for the winter.

Before he left for his quest he heard all about the new people. At that time he did not trust them, and did not want their gifts.

Returning from his quest he realizes there are lessons to learn through all experience with the universe, and lead with a heart of gratitude for all things. This is grace, and is a vital part to strength. He brought this way of thinking into his Chieftainship.

When his partner, and lover, brings the news of the gifts as an act of kindness, and shares the lighter skinned peoples said intentions to work together, he makes the decision to give the lighter skinned people a chance.

Winter falls upon the land… colder then ever before… the blankets help keep them warm, as the buffalo were scarce and the fur they gathered wasn’t enough for the whole tribe.  He saw how the buffalo were hunted, and in his heart started to feel angry at the ways of this new lighter skinned people. He so badly wanted to see them as a blessing from the universe, but he soon started to realize that not all lessons feel like blessings.

This was difficult for him to find balance. The balance between trusting his instincts as a protector and trusting his heart to lead him through lessons that must be learned.  He wanted to believe in the good of all people, and had a hard time seeing what he considered the bad parts as valuable.  He was a protector after all… protecting those he cared for from pain and harm.

Or perhaps he was a protector of something far greater than he could imagine.

The blankets kept them warm… and continued to bring the peoples temperatures up.  The tribe started to feel the heat of this sickness throughout their whole being. The elderly passed over first, along with very young children.

As he watched his people pass…he felt the fever within him grow. The fever seemed to re-light the fire of anger within his heart, forgetting what lessons he had learned from the bear. With each day he grew weaker and weaker as his anger grew deeper and deeper. The fire consumed him until he was no longer able to speak, losing his grace… and passing over.

She was engulfed in feelings of guilt, anger, sadness, regret… feelings she had never felt so deeply before. Her heart was darkening and weakening with the passing of each of her relatives. Was this all her fault? What should she have done, what could she have done differently?  Not only did she lose her closest and dearest friends and confidants, she was losing her partner and her lover. She wanted to give up, she wished she had caught the fever… she didn’t feel worthy to be one of the last remaining.

One night an eagle came to her in a dream… showing her the cycle of life, and how everything was connected. Sharing the perspective that experiences are to learn and grow from, no matter how they feel.

She realized that strength was vital to her grace.  She realized this was her lesson. He showed her the vastness of strength, and that grace alone isn’t enough. He taught her the importance of truly knowing strength in order to walk in true grace. She was grace  because he was strength… but now she had found her own strength within.

This was the lesson the universe brought through him…

One can not walk in grace without having
the strength to do so in even the most trying times.

One must have Strength in order to live in Grace.
