Art & Soul CEEQER Retreat

I am super excited to be hosting my first retreat! The Art and Soul CEEQER Retreat, Journey to the Divine I Am. July 7th-9th 2017. This is a full moon weekend as well!

My dear friend Amber and I have come together to host an art and soul retreat. Unleashing our Divine I am through art, nature and meditation.

Amber Evans will lead yoga and meditations for the three day retreat, discussing releasing old patterns and awakening our divine energy within us. We are each powerful beings capable of living the life we desire, we just have to remember how! Focusing on our intentions and the power of positive affirmations, we can manifest our desires.

I am Light, I am Human, I am Thankful

When each of us is focused on being the best version of ourselves, we help each other be the best as well. The Ojibwe say all roads are equal, no path is higher than the next. By being authentic and respecting each journey, we all shine light on each others paths.

I will be facilitating the release of things that no longer serves us through intuitive art making. We will tap into our energy and express it through a free flowing painting process. No painting experience necessary! Intuitive art comes from the heart… everything you do comes from within… the colors you chose, the shapes you make, the lines you see… everything will evolve as it should, representing your energy through your mark making.

This intuitive painting is all about the process, but will create an energetic piece for you to take home and use as a reminder of your Divine I am.

Here are few examples of some Intuitive Painting Workshops I have facilitated

The retreat will be hosted at Amethyst Retreat Center in Duncannon, Pa.  It is a beautiful location in the middle of nature. A perfect place for a full moon fire ceremony and lots of releasing and healing. There will be a nature walk, and a meditation in the labyrinth.

We would love for you to join us on this journey to our Divine. To register click here!

A nice place for a wedding …

On October 17th The Stone Mill 1792 hosted a wedding event with multiple vendors from photographers, caterers, a dj, and party planners! I attended the event and advertised my artistic services for personalized wedding gifts, bachelorette painting parties, and live event painting.

The weather started out sunny and beautiful but quickly changed to cloudy and cold. None the less, the event was hosted in such a nice spot it didn’t matter much. People from all over attended the event!

I had such a wonderful time meeting people and networking with the other vendors! I met so many people and made some new friends.

When I arrived, I set my table up next to the wonderful photographer, Summer Kelley. We hit it off right away, she was so easy to talk to and so much fun! When the crowd dwindled, I had her to keep me company! Summer’s a freelance photographer based out of Baltimore Maryland, a M.I.C.A. graduate, and currently works as senior photographer for an estate auction company in Towson. She is passionate about working with local businesses and helping out around her community! It was such a pleasure meeting her and being able to spend the day next to her. Her energy was light and fun and her photography is unique and beautiful, I would highly recommend her.

On the other side of me was my dear friend Cindy from Glen Rock, with Flowers by Cindy! I met Cindy three years ago when I first started my painting party adventure. She had great advice for a first time small business owner, and beautiful floral arrangements. When I started painting parties at The Stone Mill, I was thrilled to see her arrangements decorating the place! Her sweet energy and a beautiful personality reflect in her arrangements.

Lavender and Locks is a floral and cake designing company in South-Central Pa. They had samples of their cakes, which tasted delightful, and floral arrangements. I liked their marketing idea of posting a picture of yourself with their floral arrangement on Twitter and Facebook to be entered into a drawing for flowers. I had to take them up on it.

Tasteful Occasions, and FFF Catering were both catering companies at the event that had samples available for guests to try. I have to say Tasteful Occasions had a great spinach artichoke dip, and FFF Catering had an amazing pulled pork bbq.

After trying all of the delicious savory food, I sampled some flavorful cupcakes from Sprinkles Specialties. They provided chocolate, pumpkin and vanilla with raspberry! All three flavors were a perfect balance between sweet icing and moist cake.

And with all this food, there was great music playing. KLOCK Entertainment kept the jams flowing with great tunes. Adam Grobman was an awesome DJ with a great attitude and took my music requests!

Room Tone Productions is a company created by an artist named Patrick. His passion is for documentary filmmaking, but has worked on various film productions for Investigating Discovery, Food Network, and public services announcements for the City of Philadelphia.  His hope is for Room Tone Productions to become a creative force to help people tell their stories through films, animations or web videos. He is also interested in helping with world, and does so a little at time by using recycled, eco-friendly DVD packaging for his event packages, and business cards from Loktah and Cards of Wood. In talking to Patrick I could hear his passion for his art through how he talked about what he did, and by looking at one of the wedding films he produced that was playing at his table, I could see it come to life. I am so glad to have met Patrick and Sarah at the event.

The event planners, Party Belles were also in attendance at the event.  Michelle was a great representative for the company, outgoing and full of great ideas for wedding planning, coordinating and decorating. She has earned the title celebration specialist!

Artists Leigh Ann Hawkins and Michal Ann Boyd were also vending at the event, with their company Inside Out Upcycles. They recycle and reuse materials to create beautiful pieces! I was so inspired by their work that when my students do their paper mache projects I am going to use their work as examples !

When I have attended events like this in the past, I never really stopped to appreciate all of the amazing things humans do…usually if you’re at an event its because you are looking for something, whether specific or just as a time filler.  But as a vendor at this event, I was able to see it from a different perspective and get to know the vendors as amazing and talented artists and entrepreneurs. Thank you everyone for taking time to share your stories, thoughts, ideas and energy with me. It was truly wonderful meeting you all.

The Stone Mill Open House Event

Today Element and I attended The Stone Mill’s open house summer event. It was a perfect day to be outside meeting local artisans and vendors! I also put up a little display for our painting party events.

Paint Nights at The Stone Mill

As soon as we got there Element had to explore, so we went on a little scavenger hunt to see what she could find! Bubbles, pretzels, baby dolls, high heels and rocking chairs were her favorite things.

Ilysa Peak from Peak’s Party gave the kids bubbles to play with and to take home! Element was thrilled. The pretzels were deliberately dipped into the delicious Stonehouse Mixes Roasted Garlic gluten free veggie dip!  She found a few vintage baby dolls resting in their cradle and a lovely pair of yellow high heels! But I think her favorite find was all of the rocking chairs!

All of the vendors were lovely to meet! When we arrived we spent some time with Dawne from Bloomin Crazy Designs. Dawne was doing painting demos for the paint line she uses to create a beautiful vintage finish.  Not only does she paint furniture for sale, as well as refinishing kitchen cabinets and furniture for clients, she also teaches furniture painting workshops! She’s a woman after my own heart, doing what she loves and finding ways to make it work.

In the kitchen area I was able to spend some time talking with Ilysa Peak from Peak’s Party, a staffing service for weddings, parties, events and any special occasion. Her and I really hit it off well being we both from from a Native spiritual background, Lakota and Chippewa. She is a beautiful soul full of a calm, loving energy. If I were to ever need a staffing service I know her company would bring great energy to my event.

Working my way around the event, my next stop was the Thunder Ridge Vineyards wine tasting. I have to say, I really enjoyed their Ocean Breeze and Moscato! Not only was the wine delicious but it was lovely to see a father and daughter team! I love that they are a family owned and operated vineyard. Seeing Alex and her father Jeff work together gave me a little sense of excitement and hope that one day Element and I will be working in our art studio together.

Set up next to the vineyard was The Turquoise Bullet. Kate Hepner creates one of a kind jewelry as well as repurposed furniture. Kate is like my soul sister, we are so alike it’s scarey. Her enthusiasm for life and whatever she is working on really shines through her constant smile and upbeat personality! Not only is she a creator, she also helps coordinate and plan weddings at The Stone Mill, along with photography. You can check out what she has available at her Etsy shop.

Wandering around the grounds we came upon The Wandering Ewe. Another family team, this time mother and daughter.  Hannah (daughter) really enjoys making her fiber art, and decided why not share it with the world. Her mother Holly creates beautiful pieces as well.  They had everything from hats and headbands, to pins and dolls. Check out all the awesome things they create on their Etsy shop. You can also see some pictures of their lambs!

Next on our journey was Kyle Gerlach who owns Fare North woodworking. Kyle was working away on a few pieces when we strolled up, hatchet in hand. He loves using local reclaimed wood for his work. The spoons he creates are gorgeous! He told me that he’s really about building beautiful wood furniture but started making ladles and utensils as Christmas presents for family and friends. Everyone would tell him “You should sell these!”, so he went for it!

Our last stop was at the Be A Doer tent! This just seemed so synchronistic for the whole day, the company focuses their apparel on inspiring action and motivation! Every vendor I spent time talking to at the event really displayed this type of “go-getter” attitude! Really putting the time in to do what they love and to make it work for them. The company has shirts with sayings such as “I can and I will”, “Go the Distance”, but my favorite by far is the “She’s a dreamer…” t-shirt!

Be A Doer

I really love listening to the stories every person has to tell, especially those who are pursuing their passion and hobbies. We are all creators, we just have to pay attention to ourselves enough to know what it is we have a passion for and to have enough willpower and motivation to get out there and BE A DOER!
