VR stands for Virtual Reality. If you follow me, you know that I was awarded Educator of The Year last year and received a $500 donation towards a project for my classroom.
We were able to purchase, and did receive two Oculus Quest 2 VR headsets before the end of last year! The students LOVED using them and we explored many ways to create art! Check out the video on my YouTube channel! Like and subscribe to stay up to date on the coolest things about Art and Life!
Stewardship is the job of taking care of something.
When we are stewards of the land, we are taking care of what’s been given to us.
We are showing our gratitude for all of the gifts we’ve received.
The earth provides so much life energy.
Show respect and reverence through tending the land.
Water is life.
It flows… freely or with structure.
It rushes loudly or trickles softly.
Filling the world with its music.
Carrying away all of our thoughts and cares.
Water cleanses.
Reminding us that nothing stays the same.
Its constant rush is grounding
There’s security in the rush of the water.
Today I went into my classroom to grab a few things.
It was like the twilight zone.
I felt like the kids would walk in any minute!
It felt so familiar, yet students working in the classroom is such a distant memory.
I took pictures of some unfinished artwork; that really had me feeling disappointed and sad. The students were doing so well and created so many amazing things that they just had to leave behind.
It felt like I’m living in two realities at once.
Such amazing artwork… So much to look forward to. My only hope is that the time we had together taught them how to be creative no matter how good they thought they were at “art”.
I miss my students and my classroom.
Mandalas are one of my all time favorite things to create.
Each mandala resonates its own energy.
When creating a mandala, I meditate with the certain energy
Putting my intentions into each piece.
Each color is chosen to be symbolic, as are the designs.
Representing the movement of energy.
Mandala means sacred circle, and represents all of life above and below.
In the beginning was the word…
And the word was God…
How do we create our words, but by first taking a breath.
Filling our lungs with air, and and releasing it.
Air is constantly moving
We can not keep it
It is not mine, nor yours
Air teaches us the most important lesson

The water at Burns Valley Herbals and Retreat that flows beautifully through the woods, has been named Stone Creek, for the many stones you can find there.
Stone Creek houses many little waterfalls and surrounds a few little islands! These islands have been cleared and named as well… Solomons Stone Island, and Circle Stone Island. Each island has been cleared so that people can camp and enjoy the water all around them.
My friend Eli ArtSparkle came to visit last weekend and I took her out to the woods and let her pick the spot we would sit for our artmaking. This specific spot is a beautiful place to sit on huge rocks that Brenda and Theo arranged.
Having Eli here really reinforced that my idea of a Plein Air workshop here at Burns Valley is something that I must plan! I can only imagine what beautiful work would be created from having many different artists here, inspired by the land.

The Flowing Hollow is a beautiful magickal place at Burns Valley Herbals and Retreat.
Water flows from the spring out of the mountain, into a little creek.
Stones border the creeks edge, creating a path through this magickal water world.
There is more to the Flowing Hollow than water, there is an abundance of life from the earth, and a breeze from the wind. The stone circle brings the warmth of fire to all who gather around. There is also so much spirit, you can feel it.
I am so blessed to be able to spend time down in the Flowing Hollow and am excited to share its magick with others!

Every now and then it is important we go outside and sit.
To listen to the wind blow around us, and feel the earth beneath our feet.
Sitting stone is just the place to do that at Burns Valley Herbals and Retreat.
I enjoyed sitting at the bench and painting the mountains!
I am looking forward to when others can enjoy this beautiful space with us!
I feel like the summer solstice will be the perfect time!
Learning to fly a first person view drone is not easy!
There are so many things to learn!
How to use the controls for starters. It’s not like your typical video game controller. It’s way more involved. I got the basics like how to go up and down, and how to turn.
The next thing to consider is that you are wearing goggles and viewing the drone as the drone to fly it! It’s a lot different to fly a small toy drone that you watch, then flying the drone in the air from a seated position using goggles!
Using goggles made me dizzy at first, but the more you do it the more your body adjusts. Kind of like when you play a first person view video game for the first time.
It also was a bit scary to be so high in the air… would the drone fly away in the wind? Would I hit a bird or a tree?? Would it drop out of the sky and get lost?!
But I just pushed past the fear, and tried it! Check out my first video.
