Burns Valley Herbals and Retreat

This past week was filled with peace and self care. Taking time to work on things here and there. I am blessed to have amazing people in my life… Brenda and Joe Solonoski are two of them. They own Burns Valley Herbals and Retreat which is so much more than just an AirBnb in Doylesburg…

3 days in…

The first 3 days off of work because of the coronavirus came and went. On Sunday I thought about how I would handle the next day. Was I going to get up, business as usual… or was I going to take the well needed rest. I decided to take it one day at a time….

Processing

Today went well… I could tell students were really in shock and didn’t know what to do. They were quieter. Today I spoke to them about what was happening, and shared where the online art resources were located for them to do over the next two weeks. These digital resource folders were uploaded to each…

COVID-19 FRI-13

The fog was really heavy as I drove in to work today. With the message from the governor last night, everything seems a little more surreal. While driving into work, my mind bounced around between many different thoughts: what was today going to be like? Will there be a lot of students out? Can we…

For the First time…

All Maryland public schools will be closed from Monday March 16th until March 27th because of the coronavirus. As of this moment, we will not have to teach for those two weeks. However they mentioned that we will have to use our spring break time to make it up. This is the first time something…

Steady

Use this time and energy to focus in on what you truly want in your life, and what you hold on to that no longer serves you. Use this time to detox and break free from the attachments you’ve made that are only holding you back. Spend your alone time, breathing deeply in and out. Teach your children the importance of sacred time, and self care. We are well when we are balanced in our ways. Spend time with mother earth, letting nature heal you and bring you back to center.

New Year, New Dawn

It’s the time of year when the cycle of our planet begins again. We celebrated the new year on January 1st, and then again on the first full moon and the first new moon after the winter solstice. The Annishinabe celebrate the new year on the first new moon after the winter solstice. This signified…

Glenstone Museum

The Maryland Art Education Conference this year was split into a two day conference, with Friday being a field experience day at different museums around the area and Saturday being conference workshops! On Friday I attended the Glenstone Museum for my field experience.  This was my first time at the museum and I was blown…

Central PA Yoga Love Festival

The first ever Central PA Yoga Love Festival was hosted at Amethyst Retreat Center in Dillsburg PA.  Chelsea Balance envisioned and created an amazing yoga event for all. There were so many amazing vendors, musicians, and yoga instructors! This was the first year for this event, and I look forward to the next one! There…

Chesapeake Bay Watershed Forum

The leaves are great examples of how each of us is different and on a different journey. Each leaf is unique as it grows and thrives connected to the tree, but that’s not all that makes a leaf unique. Once the leaf has completed the cycle of growth, it begins its journey back down to…

2019

This year has been so abundant. So much packed into one year. The beginning of 2019 started off with learning more about the local connections with environmental organizations on my area, experiencing my first Maryland Association of Outdoor and Environmental Education conference, and recertifying my school as a Maryland Green school! We also were awarded…
